Greetings!
We’ve been asked by many of our customers for periodic, no-nonsense emails with just-in-time information for managers and knowledge workers on how organizations work. This is our 26th edition and we hope you enjoy it. Past editions are available on our website.

What We're Watching
30 Rock
As we convert our Thin Book files in preparation for making them available on Kindle (Amazon's e-book device), I've had to find easy things for my eyes to do at night. I rented the first season of 30 Rock and thought it was hilarious. The first segment is a little slow but explains the situation; a creative team gets a new "suit" or boss. 30 Rock stands for the Rockefeller Center and a fictional NBC show that is created and taped in the building. The new 'suit' was formally in charge of marketing GE ovens (GE owns NBC) and of course good leaders can use their skills in any situation right?
The show is about organizational behavior and does a brilliant job at showing the dynamics of boss/subordinate, team leader/team, and employee/employee. It is actually realistic while being so funny that I cannot remember laughing that much in one night. I think we all need some deep laughter in our lives and now is as good a time as any. I'm keeping this ThinZine short and recommend that you rent 30 Rock and enjoy watching familiar situations. It may even make you laugh more at work in the next year.
Trust Ships, Kindle, StonesSpeak, etc.
We shipped all of our initial orders for the Thin Book of® Trust. But, we'll keep the book as the featured product this next month at $7.95. We look forward to hearing from those who have had a chance to read it to let us know what you think of it and how you plan to use it.
In the meantime, we hope to have all our books on Kindle by Jan 15. We've experimented with the Kindle for a few months and find it to be a wonderful option for paperless reading. You can make the font bigger as your eyes tire. It's also very light, and portable, making it perfect for travel. It certainly fits with our just-in-time philosophy of delivering solid information and ideas.
My new avocation of making jewelry with beautiful natural stones has progressed to a retail space in Bend. I'm delighted to have people react so favorably to this new work. Thank you to all who have purchased the pieces from the website; if you visit Bend you now have a place to see them 'live.'
We continued our 1% For the Planet contribution to the Deschutes Land Trust. Thank you all for your purchases which helps us make this difference. And again, we are using recycled paper in all our books and in the office.
Have a wonderful New Year and thank you again for being a customer of Thin Book Publishing!
